Change Kids’ Health, Change the Future During Lunar New Year at Panda Express
Next Friday, February 12, 2021, marks the beginning of Lunar New Year and the Year of the Ox in the Chinese zodiac. Lunar New Year celebrates the coming together of family and friends to feast and welcome the new year; it’s the most important festival in China.
Since 2007, Panda Express has brought good fortune to millions of kids treated at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals across the nation by asking for donations from customers at registers all year long. Funds donated at each location stay local to impact patients and families in each community.
We want to join alongside Panda Express associates and guests celebrating this Lunar New Year and take a moment to recognize the immense impact made on The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio in 2020. More than $144,000 was raised by Panda Express and its generous customers to support essential programs at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, bringing its lifetime total to more than $1.1 million – amazing!
Donations collected year-round at Panda Express have helped countless kids through various services, including our incredible Child Life program, which is 100 percent funded by philanthropy and an essential part of our care. Child Life specialists use medical play and medical preparation to lessen the feelings of stress, anxiety, and fear for our patients and their families. They host activities throughout the year to celebrate special occasions and holidays, and went above and beyond to make adjustments and incorporate new safety protocols in 2020.
