Costco is Helping The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Change Kids’ Health Through May 31

We believe that protecting our local communities and our collective future hinges on the capacities and well-being of children. Because of this, we are on a mission to provide the best care for all children, when they need it most. Contributions to The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio through Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals) transform how we meet our most urgent needs, while also maintaining an exceptional standard of care. And kids can’t wait!

For 35 years, Costco and its members across the U.S. have joined forces to raise more than $500 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. We know when we help fund medical treatments, equipment, and facilities, we ensure children live healthy, fulfilling lives and we help foster the scientists, inventors, artists, and leaders of tomorrow.

Emmalee and Maritza stopped by their local Costco to say THANK YOU!

During the month of May, you can help to change kids’ health at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, your only local member of CMN Hospitals. Shop online or in-warehouse at Costco, and donate during check-out to help kids like Emmalee and Maritza! Emmalee and Maritza are sisters born exactly one year apart and both received life-changing surgery at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. Both girls were born with a cleft lip, nasal deformities, and partial palates. From 2015 to 2018, Dr. Lisa Buckmiller, chief of pediatric otolaryngology at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, performed surgeries on little Emmalee. Month by month, Emmalee’s doctors noticed a drastic change in her appearance and health. The surgeries were all a complete success. Once Emmalee’s lip healed, she was able to bottle-feed properly and slowly began to gain weight. Almost one year after Emmalee’s first surgery, baby Maritza, her biological little sister, was born. Upon her birth, doctors noticed Maritza would require all the same surgeries as her big sister. Dr. Buckmiller performed a cleft lip and nose reconstruction surgery when Maritza was just nine weeks old. Today, Emmalee and Maritza are now seven and six years old and are our 2022 local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Champions! Donations to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals support programs that give kids like Emmalee and Maritza the chance to share their smiles with the world.

The Costco fundraising campaign runs through May 31 and donations will stay local to benefit The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio and directly help kids Emmalee and Maritza in our community. Since 2000, Costco employees and members have donated more than $1,563,098 for kids treated at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio.

Thanks to donations collected during the annual campaign, The Children’s Hospital can provide treatments and healing to patients who need your help today, so that they can fulfill their potential for tomorrow—ultimately having ripple effects that positively impact our communities and our world for years to come.

With your help, we can change kids’ health to change the future. To donate to The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio and join us on our mission to provide kids with the best care possible, visit ChildrensHospitalSAFoundation.org.
