We’re excited to celebrate The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio during #ChildrensHospitalsWeek! Hosted by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH), Children’s Hospitals Week will shine a light on the importance of children’s hospitals and how your donations help kids get the best care when they need it most. Join us March 18-24!
The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio is the the only CMNH member in our region. Thanks to the dedication and hard work of our CMNH partners, The Children’s Hospital is able to continue providing high-quality care to thousands of patients and families who come to us for treatment. Let’s celebrate! We have lots of fun activities planned to celebrate #ChildrensHospitalsWeek 2019 – thank you to our CMNH partners for joining us!
On Tuesday, March 19, volunteers from five of our CMNH partners (Walmart, Costco, Panda Express, JW Marriott, and Credit Unions for Kids) will help us host a Teddy Bear Clinic. The purpose of a Teddy Bear Clinic is to help reduce fear, put smiles on faces of the kids, and help children become more familiar with medical equipment, resolve misconceptions about health care, and provide health and wellness education. Volunteers will help navigate patients and teddy bears through various stations, including admitting, triage, radiology, rehab, surgery, and more.
On Thursday, March 21, volunteers from Bartlett Cocke General Contractors will help children and families come together to creatively build their own hospital using everyday items. This therapeutic activity will help patients focus on the positives of being in the hospital and learn coping skills.
On Friday, March 22, Rackspace volunteers will bring video games to The Children’s Hospital for an afternoon of fun! Gamers are able to transport patients into other worlds through video games, providing a welcomed distraction from pain and medical procedures.
We’re looking forward to an exciting week! We have two more CMNH partners hosting special in-store fundraisers – Kendra Scott and Love’s Travel Stops.
Our friends at Kendra Scott are using Children’s Hospitals Week 2019 to give back even more. 50 percent of Kendra Scott’s Children Charm sales always go back to support CMNH, and locally, The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. Love’s Travel Stops will host a Round-Up Campaign March 18-22. Stop by during Children’s Hospitals Week, and choose to round up your total to the next dollar at check-out. Your change will be donated to help make a difference for our kids!
